Rude Food Fiesta; It’s a bit of a mouthful!
September 2013, Digbeth
Rude Food Fiesta was a cheeky parody of the increasingly ubiquitous food festival. Visitors entered the site via a giant mouth and were expelled through a giant anus into the unique urban oasis that is Edible Eastside.
Highlights included explicit cakes by ‘Masterbaker in Residence’ Annabel de Vetten-Peterson of Conjurer’s Kitchen; specially commissioned rude food; an interactive vagina pasta making workshop presented by Margot Clunge of Kindle Theatre; specially commissioned ales – Golden Shower and Velvet Rope – by Fownes Brewery; naughty readings by storyteller Katrice Horsley; artist commissions; food challenges and competitions.
Rude Food Fiesta was conceived and produced by Companis; Set design by (h)edge kelektiv; funded by ACE
Companis was co-founded in 2009 by Kaye Winwood and Sian Tonkin. It was a provocative company whose intention was to bring people together through food and art events, creating bespoke dining experiences to immerse the diner in a fusion of performance, food and spectacle.
